"Food" for thought

When I was a kid, we didn’t have a lot of money. Even that is an understatement, really. There were many times we had no money. But we never went hungry. My mom would spend days canning jam in the spring, and then months growing, canning, and freezing vegetables and fruit in the summer. She made everything we ate from scratch. I never even had store bought “white bread” until I moved out. One thing we were never short on was peanut butter. It was a staple in our house.
